Kay Lehr, Secretary of LAUGHH, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Avila College (now Avila University) in Kansas City, MO. She has worked in laboratories in hospitals and private companies for more than 18 years, and after moving beyond the laboratory venue, has worked in Healthcare IT positions for more than 19 years.
Kay has been active in churches and religious organizations all of her life. In 2004, she had an opportunity to go on a surgical mission trip to Chulucanas, Peru, with a fantastic group of people.
“My faith and my service to God has always been a part of my life – an important part. I always wanted to serve as a missionary, to help people in any way that I could. It was truly a mountaintop experience for me (to go on the mission to Peru). And it is the impetus to keep the fire burning inside me to do more – more of whatever needs to be done for God’s people. As I move into the next phase of my life – retirement – I am excited to be a part of LAUGHH – and to help make mission trips happen, to help in the education process of helping people help themselves, and to help people learn life skills, to make their lives better.”
